Season 2010

Last week EL Presidente asked us all to dust off the gear and get set for a new season. To launch 2010 we are having a club training and selection afternoon on Sunday 21st February. On this day we will be not only gaining some idea on numbers but also looking at the grading for 2010.

To help could you please be ready to participate at the following times:

Premier league- 12 noon – 2pm

2nd Division- 2pm-4pm

3rd Division- 4pm-6pm

We are arranging games against other clubs on the following 3 weeks before the season commences on 20th March.

Could you all please take note to bring your club shirt on Sunday and hand it in at the canteen. We need to take stock of uniforms.

An email will be issued as a follow up during the week.

Don’t forget training Premier league Tuesdays, 2nd and 3rd Divisions on Wednesdays.

Training Nights Swapped.

As of today (Sat 30th Jan), we have revised the Official Club training:

Note: We have had to swap 1st and 2nds from Wednesday to Tuesday, and Grades 3-8 from Tuesdays to Wednesdays... see below in Red. There will be no club training on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week... we will now start on the 9th and 10th of Feb.

Saturdays - 4pm to 6pm @ Kyeemagh (fitness, but with stick and ball)

1st Grade Squad - Southern End, 2nds 3rds 4ths = Northern End

(Note: Every Sunday until Trials start Mid Feb, then Club trials will replace training)

Tues 9th Feb - 7pm- 9pm - Grades P1 and P2. (Two hour session) Lower graders wanting an extra run can use pitch after 9pm.

Wed 10th Feb - 8pm - 9:30pm - Grades 3,4,5,6,7,8. Keen ones will be able to train later! The later start time is so we can A) Lockup afterwards, B) Better financially for the Club. St George Women will train before us 6:30pm to 8pm.

Apart from all of the above, the club is open from 11am till 8pm every day, so club members are welcome to use the pitch any time it is not booked. However, you MAY NOT water the pitch for your private practice. We now have to pay for our water usage, so grab a bucket and slosh some water on a small patch if you must, but no sprinklers outside of official training times.

Trent Copeland smashes Queenslanders in Sheffield Shield

St George Randwick player Trent Copeland - NSW State Hockey Junior, and 1st grade senior player, made headlines today taking 7-92 at stumps on Day 1 of the Sheffield Shield against Queensland. This is Trent's debut for the NSW Blues, and he marked the occasion with the 3rd best ever debut bowling performance - the best since Herbert Horden snared 8-81 in 1905-06. It was also the first 5 wicket haul since the 5-79 Glenn McGrath took 16 years ago.

Hopefully the rewards will continue for Trent, and everyone here at the club wishes him the best.
